The latest on Medicaid: don't panic, take action!

🛑 Help Protect Medicaid – Speak Up Today!

Medicaid helps millions of people with disabilities just like you get the care they need to live healthy, independent lives. But right now, Medicaid is in danger of being "cut." Cut means having the amount of money the government can spend on medical care under Medicaid lowered. We sometimes call this "spending cuts" or "cuts."

Spending Cuts to Medicaid would:

  • Take away healthcare from over 13 million people.

  • Make it harder to get care by adding confusing rules (confusing rules are sometimes called "red tape").

  • Keep states from stopping computers (sometimes called AI) from making unfair decisions about your care.

  • Make it harder to improve nursing homes and other care facilities. If we can't improve care, we can't improve safety.

These changes will hurt:

  • People with disabilities like you

  • Families and caregivers

  • Veterans and seniors

  • Anyone who depends on Medicaid, including children

Why This Matters in South Carolina

  • 1 in 3 people in South Carolina has a disability.

  • Our state cannot afford to cover all the care people need on its own.

  • Medicaid cuts would mean a long wait for help; some people could lose help altogether.

Real People, Real Stories

Medicaid lets you:

  • Get support so you can live at home, not in institutions.

  • Get better after injuries or sickness.

  • Go to work and school.

  • Take care of your families.

You can read the stories of people with disabilities on Medicaid, just like you, in our Look Book. Their stories show why Medicaid matters.

You Have the Power to Make a Difference

📢 Contact your lawmakers. Tell them:

  • "Don't cut Medicaid!"

  • "We need care, not red tape!"

  • "People with disabilities deserve to live safely and freely in our communities."

Use the link in the button below to send your message today. It only takes a few minutes, and your voice matters!

We are Medicaid. And we are speaking up.
