Participate with us at the Statehouse or anywhere in the world via our Livestream online!

People with disabilities face unnecessary and discriminatory barriers to transportation, housing, and healthcare. Advocacy Day for Access and Independence will call on South Carolina lawmakers to unlock these barriers!

We seek to improve the lives of South Carolinians with disabilities by opening our communities up to accommodate disabled and non-disabled people, together!

Advocacy Day for Access & Independence

Date: April 25

Time: 10 am to 12 pm

Open: 9:45 am

What should you expect?

  • Free event t-shirts will be given out until we run out! Stop by info table in front of the statehouse under blue tents for t-shirt, mini flag, button, and other swag.
  • A chance to take a survey- tell people what it’s like to have a disability in SC! See the folks with iPads at the info table by the swag!
  • An accommodations table will be open to provide accommodations as needed:
    • Sun-shade umbrellas (must be returned at end of day)
    • QR code and direct link to access closed captioning on your personal device
  • Make your own event poster table
    • Make a poster to hold during the event or by Gervais Street to show cars as they pass by!
  • Write about what Discrimination, Housing, Transportation, and Healthcare issues look like for you on a postcard.
    • Hang your postcard on one of the 4 pillars that will be at the event representing these issue areas. We are calling these our pillars of truth!
    • We will take your postcard and give them to lawmakers after the event.
